PEORIA, Ill. – The Drake University men’s cross country team recorded its second-straight top-10 finish by coming in ninth at the annual Bradley Pink Classic, Oct. 13, at Newman Golf Course. Millie Bretl, 24:08.1 In the women’s 6-kilometer race, the Bulldogs finished 22nd out of 31 teams with senior Bailee Cofer (Overland Park, Kan.) leading a pack of underclassmen behind her. Cofer finished 87th in 22:29.5, knocking nearly 20 seconds off her previous season best time at the distance. Sophomore Morgan Garcia (Marion, Iowa) followed in 22:45.4 to finish in 105th place. A pair of freshmen, Rachel Selva (Columbia, Mo.) and Elizabeth Aho (Grayslake, Ill.) finished in 112th and 136th places, respectively. Sophomore Olivia Rogers (Boulder, Colo.) completed the Bulldogs scoring in 187th in the 247-runner field. Freshman Maximilian Fridrich (Salzburg, Austria) led the men’s efforts with a 28th place finish in 25:23.2 on the 8-kilometer course. Fridrich’s time was a more than one-minute improvement on his previous 8k season best. Junior Josh Yeager (Center Point, Iowa) followed closely in 31st with a 25:26.4 finish. Kyle Cass (Deforest, Wis.), Matt Cozine (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) and Kyle Brandt (Maple Grove, Minn.) completed the Bulldogs’ scoring in 65th, 71st and 86th places, respectively. In the men’s Red Race, the Bulldogs finished ninth out of 28 teams for their second top-10 finish in as many races. Drake’s top five runners all finished within 58 places of each other in the top-100 of the more than 200-runner field. The Bulldogs return to competition Oct. 28 at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Springfield, Mo.
