Amazon Warriors win semi-costume category

first_imgAs the Guyana Amazon Warriors readily prepare for the upcoming Caribbean Premiere League (CPL), they will be in high spirits after the announcement that they are the first place winners in the inaugural Independence Day Float and Costume Band Parade, semi-costume category.01The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Education Ministry.With rags, flags and heavy rhythm, those on the Amazon Warriors truck gained loud cheers and support from the gyrating revellers as the truck drove along the parade route.Christopher Barnwell, Paul Wintz, Assad Fudadin, Stephen Jacobs, Akshay Persaud, Devendra Bishoo, Reon King, Anthony Bramble, Veersammy Permaul, Coach Roger Harper and Assistant Coach Esan Crandon were among those who gyrated with the Warriors in the parade.The runner-up spot in the semi-costume category went to the Association of Ex-Guyana National Service.In the full costume large category, copping the first place was communication giant Digicel, while Region Three was placed second and Honest Illusion and Preston Paul came in third.Additionally, in the full costume medium category, coming in first place is the Communities Ministry, in second place the Public Health Ministry and in third position – the Natural Resources Ministry.The full costume small category saw Region Nine picking up first, the Finance Ministry second and the Guyana Ex-Police Association, third.Meanwhile, the semi-costume medium category was won by Dem Village Guyana Inc and the small category by Jumbo Jets Auto Sale.The Public Infrastructure Ministry came out victorious in the individual male category while Umobile won in the female category.Crowned queen of the parade was the Education Ministry and as king was the Public Infrastructure Ministry.Among those winning in categories such as float-commercial, float-non commercial and float revellers are the Agriculture Ministry, the Communities Ministry and the Education Ministry.Olympia Small-Sonaram copped the best designer prize while Neilson Nurse came in second.A total of 29 groups registered and participated in the jubilant Independence Day Float Parade.The Parade started at 11:00h from Stabroek Market with the Childrens’ groups and moved along Brickdam with the last band; Public Infrastructure Ministry, arriving at D’Urban Park at approximately 19:00h.last_img
