Annual Tourism Congress Competition set for tomorrow.

first_imgMr. Piper sitting third from the right at the Launching ceremony of Tourism Awareness Month last week.Several secondary schools on the island are getting set to participate in the annual tourism congress competition which will get underway here tomorrow.The annual event which targets secondary school students between the ages of 14 and 17,  forms part of the education component of the Tourism Awareness Month of activities.The Tourism Youth Congress is modeled after the Tourism Congress concept used by the Caribbean Tourism OrganizationDirector of Discover Dominica Authority Colin Piper challenges student’s knowledge of the tourism industry.“Students from the Pierre Charles Secondary School, Portsmouth Secondary School, Dominica Community High School, St. Mary’s Academy, Wesley High School, Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, North East Comprehensive School and Dominica SDA Secondary School will participate in the event,” Piper said.He said in round one of the competition, students will discuss the topic “How Can Dominica Do A Better Job At Infusing Its Culture And Heritage Into The Tourism Product?”The top five winners of round 1 will progress to round 2 for discussion of the following topic: “The Waitukubuli National Trail Is A Major New Flagship Tourism Product.
