The single judge bench of Jus. Navin Chawla has also ordered for filing of Status Report regarding the pendency of applications for issuance of ration cards along with the dates of filing of the same within a period of 4 weeks before the court. The petitioners had approached the court relying on the RTI response and the information available on the website of the National Food Security portal submitting that, the approved limit for Delhi under the National Food Security Act, 2013 is 72,77,995 out of which 72,22,236 applicants have been approved. It was submitted that there is a large pendency as far as applications like those of the petitioners in this case are concerned. The counsel for the respondents appearing on advance notice submitted that the petitioner Ms. Shabnam was placed at Srl. No. 4510 while petitioner Ms. Kanta at Srl. No. 4550 in the waiting list. The court passed an order for expeditious processing of such applications on the ground that claims of Ration Cards are made for obtaining subsidiary food article. The matter is now listed to be heard next on November 26, 2020. The petitioners were represented by Advs. T.S. Dahiya and Ms. Ankita Bhadouriya.
