Camas police release name of teen who drowned

first_imgCamas police Wednesday released the name of a teenage boy whose body was found Monday in Lacamas Creek, a half-mile upstream from Northeast Third Avenue.The boy’s family contacted police and said David William Charles Gilmore of Camas had been missing the past few days. The 17-year-old’s name was released after his body was positively identified and family members were notified of his death.The cause of death remains unknown. An examination by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office has not been completed, according to a news release from the Camas Police Department. Police said earlier that they saw no physical trauma or other signs of foul play.The effort to retrieve the body began about noon Monday when hikers in Lacamas Park reported seeing a body in the creek south of Round Lake. Georgia-Pacific mill officials were contacted, and they reduced the flow from the Round Lake dam into the creek.A four-member firefighter technical rescue team recovered the body about 6:15 p.m. in a steep area with large rocks and debris, Vancouver Fire Capt.
